Wiltshire Mind, A Lifeline Under Pressure – A Call for Support

As we enter a new financial year this April, Wiltshire Mind faces one of the most challenging periods in its history. Like many local mental health charities, we are seeing demand for our services rise sharply while funding continues to fall. The result is stark in that we are forecasting a significant deficit budget for the year ahead.

Our trustees have taken the difficult but necessary decision to use our reserves to keep the charity going for as long as possible, but even with careful stewardship, this only carries us into 2027.

Without new support, Wiltshire Mind will not survive beyond that point.

And if we disappear, so does something irreplaceable.

Why Wiltshire Mind Matters

Mental health remains one of the most pressing issues across Wiltshire. Behind every statistic is a person trying to cope with anxiety, depression, trauma, loneliness, or the weight of everyday life. Our counselling and wellbeing services offer something unique:

•             Low‑cost support for those who cannot afford private therapy – for both adults and young people.

•             Local, community‑based help that anyone can access

•             A safe, non‑clinical space where people feel heard, understood, and supported

•             Early intervention that prevents crisis, hospitalisation, or long‑term deterioration

For many, Wiltshire Mind is the only place they can turn

Despite mental health being a national priority, the reality on the ground is very different. Increasingly, statutory services are experiencing reductions in funding, leaving vital gaps in mental health provision across the county. As a result, charities like Wiltshire Mind are relied upon more than ever to ensure that people do not fall through the cracks and can access the support they desperately need.

We are small, efficient, and deeply committed – but goodwill alone cannot keep the doors open.

A Call to Organisations Across Wiltshire

This is where we need your help.

If you are a business, school, parish council, community group, or local employer, your support whether financial or practical can make a profound difference.

Whether it’s:

•             Choosing Wiltshire Mind as your Charity of the Year

•             Making a corporate donation

•             Funding a counselling place for someone who can’t afford it

•             Sponsoring a wellbeing group

•             Partnering with us on workplace mental health initiatives

•             Encouraging staff fundraising or payroll giving

Every contribution strengthens the safety net for people who need us.

Why This Matters for Employers

Supporting mental health isn’t just the right thing to do- it’s good for your workforce, your community, and your organisation’s wellbeing culture. When people have access to timely support, they stay healthier, more resilient, and more able to thrive at work and at home.

We Can’t Do This Alone

Wiltshire Mind has been part of the fabric of this county for many years. We want to continue being here for everyone who needs us, but we need partners who believe in the same vision.

If your organisation can help, even in a small way, please reach out. Together, we can ensure that mental health support in Wiltshire doesn’t just survive but continues to shine a light for those who need it most.
